Hot August Nights Car Show

The annual Hot August Nights MotorSports Festival is a week-long celebration of small-town Americana, featuring classic cars from the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The event kick-off for Hot August Nights begins with an outdoor show at the Horizon Hotel Casino in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada; moving to the Reno/Sparks area on Saturday with Show-n-Shine and "Shake, Rattle & Roll" parking lot events at Circus Circus, the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, the Eldorado Hotel Casino, the Atlantis Casino, the Silver Legacy Resort Casino and the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. In Sparks, Nevada there are daytime street events at the Nugget Casino and along Victorian Square in oldtown Sparks.

Each night towards the end of the week there is a rally/cruise along historic North Virginia Street in downtown Reno. The Hot August Nights tradition began in 1986 in the Reno-Sparks area of Northern Nevada to "fill a void in tourism in Reno" during the hot month of August, and to raise money for local charities. In 2011, the event organizers intend to expand the event to Long Beach, California.
